Court Reserves Order on Summoning Tejaswi Yadav and Others in Land for Job Case

New Delhi, August 17: The Rouse Avenue court has reserved its order on summoning former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Bihar Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav, and others in a money laundering case related to the ‘Land for Job’ scam. The order will be pronounced on August 24.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently filed a supplementary charge sheet against Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejaswi Yadav, and nine other accused. Special Judge Vishal Gogne reserved the order after considering the charge sheet and submissions from ED’s counsel.

The charge sheet includes names like Lallan Chaudhary, Hazari Rai, Dharmender Kumar, Akhileshwar Singh, Ravinder Kumar, Late Lal Babu Rai, Sonmatia Devi, Late Kishun Dev Rai, and Sanjay Rai. It also contains 96 documents.

Earlier, the court had directed the ED to expedite the investigation and file an additional charge sheet. The ED’s Special Public Prosecutor Manish Jain clarified that the supplementary charge sheet is based on the evidence collected so far.

Former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, her daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, and others have already been charge-sheeted. The court had granted regular bail to Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, Hema Yadav, and Hridyanand Chaudhary on February 28.

The ED’s investigation revealed that several land parcels were illegally acquired by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family in exchange for jobs in the Railways. The current market value of these lands is over Rs 200 Crore. The investigation also found that a property in New Friends Colony, Delhi, was acquired at a low value but is now worth approximately Rs 150 Crore.

Further investigations revealed that lands were taken from poor applicants in exchange for Group D jobs in the Railways. More than 50 percent of recruited candidates in some Railway Zones were from Lalu Yadav’s constituencies.
