New Delhi, July 25: The Rouse Avenue Court has referred Ashish Kumar, a complainant in a CBI case, to the High Court for criminal contempt proceedings. This case involves former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and other police officers, with allegations dating back to 1994.

Special CBI Judge Sunena Sharma made the reference after Ashish Kumar accused judicial officers of bias and claimed he had no faith in the court. He alleged that the court was compromised and had already decided to acquit the accused. Despite repeated warnings to maintain decorum, Kumar continued to make scandalous statements against the court and the High Court.

Judge Sharma stated that Kumar’s conduct was contemptuous and an attack on the judicial system. She deemed it appropriate to refer the matter to the Delhi High Court for criminal contempt proceedings.

Ashish Kumar’s case relates to the alleged abduction and murder of his relatives in Ludhiana, Punjab, in the 1990s. He sought a transfer of the case to another judge, but his request was declined by the Principal District and Session Judge at Rouse Avenue Court.
