Court Orders Decision on Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Case by July 31
New Delhi, July 15: The Rouse Avenue court has instructed the competent authority to decide on the prosecution sanction against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and other public servants within two weeks. Special CBI judge Vishal Gogne has set the next hearing for July 31.
Details of the Case
The CBI has filed a conclusive charge sheet against Lalu Prasad Yadav and 77 others in the ‘land for job’ case. This includes 38 accused candidates. The court had previously expressed displeasure over delays in filing the charge sheet.
Accusations and Charges
Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and son Tejashwi Yadav are among the accused. The CBI alleges that during his tenure as Railway Minister (2004-2009), Lalu Prasad Yadav received land in exchange for railway jobs. The land was transferred to his family members and a private company controlled by them.
Investigation Findings
The CBI’s investigation revealed that no public notices were issued for the job appointments, and the candidates were appointed as substitutes before being regularized. Searches were conducted in Delhi and Bihar, uncovering a hard disk with lists of engaged candidates.
Next Steps
The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 31, awaiting the competent authority’s decision on the prosecution sanction.
