Court Denies Bail to Satyendar Jain Despite Wife’s Injury
The Rouse Avenue court in New Delhi has rejected the plea of former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain for four weeks interim bail. Jain requested bail to assist his wife, Poonam Jain, who has a fractured foot and is also an accused in the same money laundering case. The plea emphasized the family’s struggles in managing daily affairs without Jain, but the court, led by Special Judge Rakesh Siyal, dismissed the request.
Details of the Case
Satyendar Jain was arrested on May 30, 2022, in connection with a money laundering case. His lawyers, Gagan Minocha and Mayank Jain, argued that his wife’s injury and the absence of other family members to manage household and legal matters necessitated his release. However, the Enforcement Directorate’s counsel opposed the plea.
Family’s Situation
The plea detailed that Poonam Jain, who is managing household affairs and legal issues alone, is incapacitated due to her injury. Additionally, Jain’s younger daughter is unwell, and his other daughter, who is married and has a young child, cannot assist. The plea stressed the importance of Jain’s presence at home during this period.
