Court Delays Decision on Summoning Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav in Land for Job Case
New Delhi, August 24: The Rouse Avenue Court has postponed its decision on whether to summon former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejaswi Yadav, and others in the land for job money laundering case. The court has asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit the death certificate of co-accused Lallan Chaudhary, who has passed away. Special Judge Vishal Gogne has rescheduled the matter for September 7.
The court noted that while death certificates for accused Nos. 17 and 18 have been filed, the certificate for accused No. 10, Lallan Chaudhary, is still pending. The ED had filed a supplementary charge sheet on August 6, naming several individuals, including Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav, in the case.
Earlier, the court had directed the ED to expedite the investigation and file additional charge sheets. The ED’s Special Public Prosecutor Manish Jain and Snehal Sharda appeared before the court, clarifying that the supplementary charge sheet is based on the evidence collected so far.
The case involves allegations that the Yadav family acquired land parcels in exchange for railway jobs. The ED’s investigation has revealed that several properties were bought using proceeds from these illegal transactions. The current market value of these properties is estimated to be over Rs 200 crore.
The court has also noted that the property in New Friends Colony, Delhi, registered under M/s A B Exports Private Limited, is being used as a residence by Tejaswi Prasad Yadav. The ED suspects that a significant amount of illicit cash was used to purchase this property.
The investigation continues, with the next hearing scheduled for September 7.
