Court Delays Decision on Brij Bhushan Singh’s Case Until September

New Delhi [India], July 27: Delhi’s Patiala House Court has postponed the decision on the cancellation report filed by the Delhi Police against former WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh in a POCSO case. This case was based on a complaint by a minor female wrestler, who later retracted her statement.

Special (POCSO) Judge Chhavi Kapoor deferred the order to September 27 due to the Lawyer’s Association’s call to restrain from work on Saturday. On August 1, 2023, the court reserved its order after noting the response of the minor wrestler and her father, who did not oppose the cancellation report.

Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava stated that the minor wrestler and her father were satisfied with the investigation by the Delhi Police. The cancellation report was initially filed on June 15, 2023, and the court issued a notice to the complainant and her father on July 4.

In a separate case, a charge sheet for sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan Singh and Vinod Tomar was filed in Rouse Avenue Court. The court has ordered the trial to begin and the prosecution witnesses’ statements to be recorded. The charges include offences under sections 354, 354A, and 354D of the IPC against Singh and sections 109, 354, 354A, and 506 IPC against Tomar.
