Cooper Connolly Injured, Misses T20I Series Against Pakistan

Perth, Australia – Young all-rounder Cooper Connolly will not participate in Australia’s upcoming T20I series against Pakistan due to a fracture in his left hand. The injury occurred during the third ODI against Pakistan when Connolly was hit on the hand while attempting to play a shot. After facing another delivery, he realized the severity of the pain and left the field for medical assessment.

A spokesperson from Cricket Australia confirmed that Connolly has a fracture in the fourth metacarpal of his left hand and will consult a specialist in Perth. A replacement for Connolly in the T20I series will be announced soon.

Australia’s loss in the series was compounded by Connolly’s injury, as they suffered an 8-wicket defeat. Pakistan’s captain, Mohammad Rizwan, celebrated a successful start to his leadership, with his bowlers dominating the Australian batsmen. Throughout the series, no Australian player managed to score a half-century, highlighting the team’s struggles.

Australia’s squad was missing key players like Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, and the pace trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc, who are preparing for a Test series against India. Additionally, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head were absent due to paternity leave.

Despite not playing the final ODI, Steven Smith was Australia’s top scorer with 79 runs in two matches, while Josh Inglis followed with 74 runs in three matches, achieving the highest individual score of 49 for Australia in the series.
