In Ranchi, Jharkhand, a political controversy has erupted over the age of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo accused Soren’s government of deceit, claiming Soren’s age increased by seven years in five years, referencing Einstein’s relativity theory. This came after Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, accused the BJP of fearing her husband and using the age issue as a political tool.
Pratul Shah Deo stated, “We didn’t start this; it was started by your husband. In 2019, Hemant Soren swore he was 42, and in 2024, he claimed to be 49. How can a person age seven years in five?”
BJP MP Deepak Prakash criticized Soren for leading Jharkhand towards anarchy and questioned the protection of tribal rights under his leadership. He accused Soren of exploiting the state’s mineral wealth and neglecting tribal culture.
Kalpana Soren countered, questioning the significance of age in politics and suggesting the BJP’s fear of Hemant Soren’s influence. She emphasized the trust Jharkhand’s people have in her husband.
Union Minister Sanjay Seth also criticized the age discrepancy, urging the Election Commission of India to investigate. The controversy arises as Jharkhand prepares for assembly elections on November 13 and 20, with results on November 23.
