Controversy in Jharkhand: FIR Against Minister Irfan Ansari for Remarks on BJP’s Sita Soren

In Ranchi, Jharkhand, an FIR has been filed against Minister Irfan Ansari for allegedly making derogatory remarks about BJP leader Sita Soren. Jharkhand’s Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Neha Arora, confirmed the case, citing a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). A strict advisory has been issued to political parties.

Union Minister Annapurna Devi criticized Ansari’s comments, suggesting they reflect the Congress party’s mentality. She urged Congress to remove such individuals from their ranks. Sita Soren expressed confusion over Ansari’s audacity and reported the incident to the Election Commission, emphasizing the anger among the tribal community.

BJP leader Ragini Singh accused the Congress of having a policy of disrespecting women, contrasting it with the BJP’s stance of respect for all women. The controversy arose when Ansari, a Congress candidate, referred to Sita Soren as “rejected” and a “borrowed player” during a media interaction. Sita Soren demanded an apology, warning of public backlash.

The BJP plans to contest the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections in alliance with the All Jharkhand Students Union, Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party, with a seat-sharing arrangement.
