Congress Workers Protest in Delhi Over Haryana Election Tickets
On Sunday, Congress workers gathered outside the Congress headquarters in New Delhi to demand local candidates for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections on October 5. They were upset because state President Udai Bhan’s son-in-law and daughter were given tickets despite losing twice before.
A Congress worker explained, “We have raised this issue with our party and now want to bring it to the public’s attention. From the Pataudi region, 42 candidates applied for a ticket, and 38 of them are here today. Despite the rule that those who lost twice should not get tickets, both of them are being given tickets.”
The workers threatened to resign or contest independently if the tickets were not revoked. Sunita Verma, another member, emphasized that the party’s rule of not giving tickets to candidates who lost twice was being broken. She demanded that Rahul Gandhi ensure the rules are followed properly.
“We just want Rahul Gandhi and the Congress to make sure the rules are followed. How is it fair when someone who lost twice gets a ticket again?” Verma added.
