Haryana 2024 Assembly Elections: Congress Poised for Victory

The voting for the 2024 Assembly elections in Haryana has concluded, and exit polls suggest a significant win for the Congress Party. Predictions indicate that Congress may secure more than 50 of the 90 seats in the assembly. According to the Republic TV-Matrize poll, Congress is expected to win between 55-62 seats, while the BJP may get 18-24 seats. Other polls, like People Pulse and Dainik Bhaskar, also forecast a strong performance for Congress, with estimates ranging from 44-64 seats.

Voter turnout was recorded at 61% across Haryana’s 90 assembly seats. Mewat had the highest turnout at 68.28%, while Gurugram had the lowest at 49.97%. Other notable turnouts include Yamunanagar at 67.93% and Palwal at 67.69%.

In total, 1,031 candidates contested in the elections, with 20,632 polling booths set up. The votes are scheduled to be counted on October 8, alongside those from Jammu and Kashmir.

In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP won 40 seats and formed a coalition government with the JJP, which won 10 seats. The Congress had secured 31 seats, but the JJP later left the coalition.
