After the Lok Sabha was adjourned till Monday, opposition leaders expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of discussion on the NEET controversy. Congress MP Manish Tewari called it ‘unfortunate’ that no discussion took place. He highlighted two main issues: the NEET paper leak affecting lakhs of students and the implementation of new criminal laws.

Another Congress MP, Deepender Singh Hooda, criticized the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for avoiding responsibility. Hooda mentioned that Haryana has seen the most paper leak cases and demanded a discussion on the issue.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju assured that the government is ready for discussion but condemned the Congress for halting proceedings. He appealed for the House to function properly.

UP Minister Sanjay Nishad defended the government’s actions, stating that strict laws are being made and investigations are ongoing. He criticized the opposition for raising new issues and highlighted the government’s efforts to combat the ‘copy mafia.’

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a criminal case on June 23 over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5, 2024. The Ministry of Education has formed a high-level committee to recommend reforms in the examination process and data security protocols.
