Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain Questions BJP’s Achievements in Jammu and Kashmir

Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain has asked the BJP-led government to disclose how many schools, bridges, and hospitals were built in Jammu and Kashmir over the last eight years. He also questioned the number of jobs created and the reduction in terror attacks.

Assembly elections are currently taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. The first phase of voting was held on September 18, the second phase is scheduled for September 25, and the third phase for October 1. The votes will be counted on October 8.

Hussain said, “(Union Home Minister) Amit Shah ji and the BJP should inform what they are going to do for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the next five years in case they form the government. They should inform how many bridges, schools, and hospitals were made and how much investment came during the last eight years. How many jobs were offered to the people? And how much were terror attacks reduced? They should talk about it.”

He added, “They should provide data and then we can debate over that. They are talking about giving five lakh jobs. One lakh sanctioned vacancies are vacant that were not filled in the last eight years.”

Hussain also accused the BJP of awarding tenders and contracts to outsiders and questioned their contributions to the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the past eight years.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress and the National Conference, saying that during their rule, terrorism increased in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in thousands of deaths. Shah said, “Congress and National Conference ruled here for 35 years, terrorism increased, 40 thousand people were killed, Jammu and Kashmir remained closed for three thousand days, it remained immersed in darkness for eight years. You (Congress and National Conference) are responsible for this.”

The Congress and the National Conference are contesting the elections in alliance, while the PDP, BJP, and People’s Conference are among other parties competing for 90 Assembly seats. These elections are the first since the abrogation of Article 370 and are being held after nearly ten years.
