Congress MP Shafi Parambil Calls for Airfare Regulation and Census in India
On Friday, Congress MP Shafi Parambil addressed the Lok Sabha, urging measures to regulate airfare. He highlighted the financial burden faced by immigrant workers due to fluctuating ticket prices. Parambil pointed out the high cost of flights from Cochin to Dubai, questioning how normal laborers could afford such expenses.
During the session, there was also a brief uproar when a TMC member and BJP members attempted to discuss unrelated issues, which the Speaker did not permit.

Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi also emphasized the need for a timely census. He submitted an adjournment motion notice, stressing the importance of updated data for effective policymaking. Gogoi criticized the government for relying on outdated 2011 data and urged immediate action to start the census process.
Gogoi highlighted that many countries completed their census during the pandemic, while India postponed it without a new date. He called for a clear timeline and adequate budget allocation to ensure the census is conducted promptly.
The budget session of Parliament began on July 22 and is scheduled to end on August 12.
