Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka Criticizes BJP Youth Wing for Stone Pelting in Odisha

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], July 4: Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing for throwing stones at the Congress Bhawan. This incident happened after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in Parliament. Ulaka warned the BJP that they cannot implement the “Gujarat model” in Odisha, referring to the 2002 inter-communal violence in Gujarat.

Ulaka stated, “In the evening, members of their (BJP) youth wing came and pelted stones at the Congress Bhawan. This has never happened earlier…if this repeats, we won’t sit quietly. Don’t think you (BJP) can implement the Gujarat model in Odisha. This is a peaceful state…”

He also mentioned that Rahul Gandhi spoke about various issues like Agniveer, unemployment, inflation, and Manipur in Parliament, but the BJP twisted his words to give an “anti-Hindu” meaning. Ulaka added, “Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal did a press conference and called Rahul Gandhi anti-Hindu and terrorist.”

Meanwhile, BJYM national president Tejasvi Surya led protests in Delhi against Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Hindu’ remark. Surya led a march of thousands of Delhi BJP workers to the Congress headquarters, demanding an unconditional apology from Rahul Gandhi. He was later detained and released.

Earlier, Surya asked BJYM units across the country to hold extensive protests condemning Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. During a debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s Address, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP-led government of a “systematic attack” on the idea of India and the Constitution. He claimed that many leaders were personally attacked and some are still in jail for resisting the concentration of power and wealth.

Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the BJP does not represent the entire Hindu society, stating, “Narendra Modi is not entire Hindu society. BJP is not the entire Hindu society, RSS is not the entire society, this is not BJP’s contract.”
