Congress MP Randeep Surjewala Criticizes Karnataka Governor’s Decision to Prosecute CM Siddaramaiah

New Delhi, August 17: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala has strongly criticized the Karnataka Governor’s decision to allow the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam. Surjewala accused the Governor of acting under the influence of the Central Government and the BJP.

Surjewala’s Statement

Surjewala described the Governor’s decision as an act of ‘shameless unconstitutionality’ and claimed it was part of a conspiracy by the BJP to destabilize the Congress government in Karnataka. He stated, “The Governor’s decision is an act of shameless unconstitutionality by the Governor, who is hell-bent upon bulldozing the law and the Constitution to carry further BJP’s conspiracy.”

He further alleged that the BJP is trying to undermine the mandate given by the people of Karnataka to the Congress party in the 2023 Assembly Elections. Surjewala said, “PM Modi and the BJP are unable to digest their loss in the State and have tried every trick in the book to defame and destabilize the Congress Government.”

Governor’s Decision

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam. According to Raj Bhavan sources, the decision has sparked controversy and accusations of political motivation.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Response

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded by accusing the Governor of being a puppet of the Central Government. He stated, “There is no valid case against me, and this decision by the Governor is politically motivated.” Despite the Governor’s actions, Siddaramaiah made it clear that he had no intention of resigning and criticized the BJP for lacking the moral right to demand his resignation.

Siddaramaiah also accused the Central Government of opposing social justice and the welfare schemes introduced by the Congress government, saying, “They cannot tolerate our success.”
