Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala Criticizes Haryana Government’s Stubble Burning Order

In New Delhi, Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala expressed strong disapproval of the Haryana government’s recent order concerning farmers burning stubble. The order, issued by the state government, mandates that FIRs be filed against farmers who burn paddy crop residue, following the Commission for Air Quality Management’s directions. Additionally, farmers involved in stubble burning will face restrictions on selling their crops through the e-Kharid portal for the next two seasons.

Surjewala accused the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government, led by Nayab Singh Saini, of conspiring against farmers by abolishing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and penalizing them for stubble burning. He questioned the availability of alternatives like the Happy Seeder Machine, which remains costly even with subsidies, and demanded answers from the government.

Surjewala warned of a potential nationwide movement if the government fails to address farmers’ concerns. Meanwhile, Haryana’s Chief Minister praised farmers for adhering to government orders and highlighted efforts to provide subsidized equipment to prevent stubble burning.
