Congress MP Pramod Tiwari Responds to Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s Remarks on RSS

New Delhi [India], September 26: Congress MP Pramod Tiwari reacted to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s statement on RSS, saying that the RSS aims to weaken organizations. Tiwari noted that Soren’s experiences in the state influenced his remarks.

Speaking about Soren’s comments, Tiwari said, “I can only say that the way the Chief Minister was sent to jail, the way he was cornered, the way an attempt was made to weaken the organization there, it is only the modus operandi of the RSS.” He added, “A Chief Minister will have his own experience for the state, I don’t know in what context he said this but he did not name anyone. He did not say anything to the organization…only he can tell what he meant.”

This response came after Soren, during a rally on September 25 in Jharkhand, called RSS workers ‘chooha’ (rats) and dismissed BJP’s allegations of demographic changes in the state. Soren suggested that BJP should look into the data of neighboring West Bengal instead.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren said, “Assam CM comes to Jharkhand and criticizes the state’s people and state government…We will give a befitting reply…They will talk about changing demography and Bangladeshi infiltrators. I would like to tell them to look at the data of the Government of India to determine how the numbers have changed in which district and which state. Go and see what the data is in Bengal. Then see the data of various districts in Jharkhand. You would find that there is no change in the demography here.”

Following Soren’s statement, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren calls nationalists and people elected by the public ‘chooha’. But he doesn’t say anything about the Bangladeshi infiltrators who enter Santhal Pargana and encroach on land, because this pertains to his vote bank.” Poonawalla further criticized the INDIA bloc, stating that ‘one party of the INDI Alliance is targeting another party of the alliance’.
