Congress MP Manish Tewari Criticizes NDA Government’s Union Budget

New Delhi [India], July 24: Congress MP Manish Tewari has criticized the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s Union Budget, claiming it shows clear discrimination. Tewari sarcastically suggested he might need to recheck the dictionary definition of ‘discrimination’.

He stated, “If there is no discrimination in the Budget then I will have to go and check the meaning of the word ‘discrimination’ in the dictionary once again. Discrimination is writ large over the Budget.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also alleged bias, stating the budget favored Bihar and Andhra Pradesh while neglecting other states. He said, “The budget that was presented yesterday, no state got anything…all plates empty and in two plates, there is pakora and jalebi.”

Kharge listed several states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and Odisha, that he claimed received no benefits from the budget.

Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, and Dola Sen, protested in Parliament, accusing the budget of being designed to save the BJP-led government. They held placards and chanted slogans like “Opposition virodhi kursi bachao Budget murdabad”.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made major announcements for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, including a boost in infrastructure.
