Congress Leaders Criticize PM Modi’s Remarks on Congress Promises

In New Delhi, Congress MP Manish Tewari criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his comments on Congress’s promises. Tewari found it ironic that PM Modi disapproved of Congress’s guarantees while the BJP’s 2024 manifesto, “Modi Ki Guarantee,” included several major promises. These promises included free rations, zero electricity bills, financial aid to farmers, free health insurance, and free LPG cylinders.

Senior Congress leader K.C. Venugopal also responded to PM Modi’s criticisms, defending Congress’s welfare initiatives. Venugopal called PM Modi “the uncrowned champion of puffery” and highlighted Congress’s consistent welfare delivery, especially in Karnataka and Telangana. He mentioned schemes like the Anna Bhagya Scheme and the Shakti scheme, which have benefited millions.

Venugopal questioned the BJP’s delivery on promises like “Ache Din” and “Amrit Kaal,” and criticized the BJP’s governance as “insincere and non-performing.” He emphasized Congress’s commitment to effective governance and welfare-focused policies.

PM Modi had accused Congress of making “unreal promises” and failing to deliver, citing issues in Congress-ruled states. He urged the public to be cautious of Congress’s “fake promises.”
