Congress MP Manickam Tagore Confident of Winning 70 Seats in Haryana Assembly Polls

New Delhi [India], September 1: Congress MP Manickam Tagore claimed that the party was confident in winning more than 70 seats in the upcoming Haryana Assembly polls. He stated, “Haryana is in a very positive mood for Congress. We all expect more than 70 seats this time. We know that the momentum is on Congress’ side.”

Earlier, Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda attended a meeting at Himachal Bhavan to discuss the elections. Tagore mentioned that over 2500 candidates have applied to contest, and senior leaders are meeting to decide on the winning candidates.

Both Tagore and AICC in-charge of Haryana, Deepak Babaria, criticized the Election Commission for postponing the polls, accusing it of working for the BJP. Tagore said, “The unpopular government in Haryana led by BJP will be defeated with a huge margin.” Babaria added that the delay will not affect the party’s preparations.

The Election Commission postponed the polls to honor the Bishnoi community’s Asoj Amavasya festival on October 2. The polling day was moved from October 1 to October 5, and the vote counting from October 4 to October 8.
