Congress MP Kumari Selja Clarifies Her Stance on Haryana Elections

New Delhi, India – Congress MP Kumari Selja has addressed rumors about her being upset with Congress leaders over decisions related to the Haryana elections. She emphasized her faith in the party’s high command, stating, “In the Congress, ultimately our faith lies in the high command only.”

In an interview, Selja expressed her support for Congress leaders but noted that the committees responsible for ticket distribution did not adequately consult local leaders, leading to shortcomings. She mentioned that Sonia Gandhi, the former president, was more involved in the past, and with Rahul Gandhi being abroad, the committees struggled to manage the situation effectively.

Selja dismissed any claims of bargaining for the Haryana Chief Minister’s position, reiterating her loyalty to the Gandhi family. She shared her experiences as a Congress leader, acknowledging the emotional ups and downs but affirming her commitment to the party.

Addressing perceptions of respect, Selja stated that she is respected within the party and holds a position. She explained that politics is often about perception, and sometimes people may feel respect is lacking.

When asked about helping her supporters secure tickets for the Assembly polls, she clarified that it is not possible to give everyone a ticket. Haryana is set to hold elections on October 5, with results to be announced on October 8.
