New Delhi, India – Following the controversy over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak and the cancellation of UGC-NET due to integrity issues, opposition leaders are demanding a discussion in Parliament. Congress MP KC Venugopal submitted an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha to address the issue of paper leaks in exams like NEET-UG and UGC-NET, and the failure of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Aam Admi Party leader Sanjay Singh and Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain also called for discussions in Rajya Sabha. Hussain submitted a suspension of Business Notice under Rule 267 to discuss the paper leaks.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the abolition of NEET and a return to state-conducted exams. She highlighted issues like paper leaks, bribes, and grace marks, which jeopardize students’ careers and the quality of medical education.

The Chief Ministers of Kerala and Tamil Nadu also support scrapping NEET. Amid the controversy, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a criminal case to probe alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam conducted by the NTA. The Ministry of Education has formed a high-level committee to recommend reforms in the examination process and data security.
