Congress MP K Suresh Defends Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi’s Wayanad Visit
New Delhi [India], August 1: Congress MP K Suresh criticized BJP MP Tejasvi Surya for questioning Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi’s visit to Wayanad. Suresh explained that the Gandhis couldn’t visit Wayanad earlier due to weather conditions and emphasized the importance of their security.
“The death toll in Wayanad has been increasing every day. We cannot comment on the final figure right now. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were not able to go to Wayanad yesterday because of the weather conditions. George Kurian is a minister and he travelled by road. The security of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi is important, and their visit yesterday was cancelled due to the advice given by the District Administration of Wayanad,” K Suresh said.
Suresh also mentioned that Rahul Gandhi has raised Wayanad’s issues in the Lok Sabha multiple times, accusing the BJP of politicizing the situation. “Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi left for Wayanad today. Yesterday, Gandhi raised the issues of the Wayanad constituency, ecological issues and the landslide issue several times in the Lok Sabha, but the BJP only wants to politicise them. The BJP just makes false allegations about Congress. The people of Wayanad are fully aware of the reasons why they have selected Rahul Gandhi with a majority for the second time,” he said.
Earlier on Wednesday, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya had raised questions on Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi’s visit to Wayanad and said that Union Minister George Kurian has been on the ground for the past two to three days. He added that while Kurian’s plane was able to land, the planes carrying Rahul and Priyanka are unable to do so.
