Congress MP Jairam Ramesh Urges PM Modi to Visit Manipur After Wayanad Landslide Visit

New Delhi, India – Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the landslide-hit Wayanad, Congress MP and general secretary Jairam Ramesh has called on the Prime Minister to also visit Manipur. Ramesh emphasized the severity of the Wayanad landslide, which has claimed almost 300 lives, and suggested it should be declared a national disaster.

Ramesh stated, “Today PM Modi has visited Wayanad…It would be good if he also goes to Manipur.” He also criticized the government for ignoring states not ruled by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in this year’s budget, while praising the government’s handling of the Bangladesh issue.

Prime Minister Modi conducted an aerial survey of the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad, accompanied by CM Pinarayi Vijayan. He observed the origin of the landslide at the Iruvazhinji River and the worst-hit areas of Punchirimattam, Mundakkai, and Chooralmala. PM Modi also visited on-the-ground locations, met with victims, and oversaw relief efforts.

The landslide in Wayanad, which occurred on July 30, has resulted in 226 deaths and widespread devastation. The Prime Minister is expected to continue overseeing rehabilitation efforts to ensure effective support for those affected.
