Congress MP Hibi Eden Questions PM Modi Over Delhi Airport Canopy Collapse

New Delhi [India], June 30: Congress MP Hibi Eden has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government following a canopy collapse at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The incident, which occurred on Friday morning, resulted in one death and eight injuries.

Eden stated, “We are not receiving rain for the first time but during the BJP regime, accidents are happening and people are losing lives during rain.” He demanded answers about the quality of airport construction and materials used.

The collapse happened at Terminal 1, leading to the suspension of its operations. Flights have been moved to Terminals 2 and 3. A technical committee has been formed to investigate the cause, with initial reports suggesting heavy rainfall as a primary factor.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, criticized opposition leaders for politicizing the incident and assured that precautions are being taken to prevent future accidents. The Civil Aviation Ministry has decided to conduct a structural audit of terminals across the country.

DIAL, the airport authority, has extended support to the affected individuals, offering compensation to the family of the deceased and those injured.
