Congress Leaders Protest in Indore Over Drainage Scam

On August 6, Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders staged a protest in front of the Indore Municipal Corporation office. The protest was led by state Congress chief Jitu Patwari, former minister Sajjan Singh Verma, and former Union Minister Arun Yadav, among others.

During the protest, the Congress leaders addressed a gathering. When they attempted to submit a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, the police stopped them with barricades. Some party workers tried to climb over the barricades, leading the police to use water cannons.

Jitu Patwari claimed that there were scams worth Rs 2000 crores involving fake bills in the Indore Municipal Corporation. He stated that if properly investigated, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would be jailed. Patwari also accused state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya of abducting a Congress candidate during the Lok Sabha polls.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Ram Sanehi Mishra said that the police made arrangements to ensure the general public was not inconvenienced during the protest. After the memorandum was submitted, the protest ended peacefully.
