Congress Raises Concerns Over EVMs in Haryana Elections
In New Delhi, Congress leader Pawan Khera announced that the party has submitted a list of 20 seats to the Election Commission of India (ECI) where candidates reported issues with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the Haryana Assembly elections. Khera highlighted that machines showing 99% battery charge were linked to Congress losses, while those with 60-70% charge were linked to wins.
Jairam Ramesh, another Congress leader, submitted a memorandum to the ECI, urging them to investigate these irregularities. He expressed hope that the ECI would take appropriate action. The memorandum detailed issues in 20 constituencies, including Narnaul, Karnal, and Dabwali, among others.
A delegation of Congress leaders, including KC Venugopal and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, met with the ECI to discuss these concerns. Khera emphasized the need to secure the machines until investigations are complete and promised to provide further complaints within 48 hours.
