The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress is currently holding a meeting to discuss the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. This important meeting is taking place at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi.

Several prominent Congress leaders are present at the meeting, including Sonia Gandhi, the Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson, Mallikarjun Kharge, the party President, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and KC Venugopal, the party General Secretary.

Seat Sharing in Jharkhand

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, along with Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir, announced that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Congress will share 70 seats. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Left parties will divide the remaining 11 seats. This arrangement is part of the INDIA bloc in Jharkhand, which includes the JMM, Congress, RJD, and Left parties.

Maharashtra Assembly Election Plans

Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar stated that the final decision on all 288 seats for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Maharashtra assembly election will be made by tomorrow evening. He mentioned that there are some issues with 6-7 seats in Vidarbha, but they will be resolved soon. The MVA consists of three parties sharing the 288 seats.

Election Dates

The assembly polls in Jharkhand are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20, while the Maharashtra polls will occur in a single phase on November 20. The counting of votes for both states will take place on November 23.
