Congress Leader Vasantrao Chavan Passes Away in Hyderabad
Congress MP from Nanded, Maharashtra, Vasantrao Chavan, passed away this morning at KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad. He was airlifted to Hyderabad 12 days ago and diagnosed with multiple health issues, including Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, a type of brain dysfunction caused by decreased oxygen or blood flow.
KIMS Hospital released a statement expressing their profound sadness over his passing. The statement read, ‘Despite the best efforts of the medical team at KIMS Gachibowli, Hyderabad, he succumbed to his critical condition.’ The MP also suffered cardiac arrest due to respiratory failure and end-stage renal disease. A multidisciplinary team of doctors provided comprehensive treatment, and he was on ventilator support. His condition worsened, leading to a complete heart block and subsequent cardiac arrest early Monday morning.
The hospital extended their deepest condolences to his family, friends, and constituents, noting that his passing leaves a void in the lives of those he served.
Vasantrao Chavan was elected from the Nanded constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Several party leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Nana Patole, paid their condolences. Rahul Gandhi expressed his sadness in a post, stating, ‘The news of the demise of senior Congress leader, Nanded Lok Sabha MP Shri Vasantrao Chavan ji is extremely sad. While paying my heartfelt tribute to him, I express my deep condolences to the bereaved family. A popular grassroots leader, Shri Chavan supported and expanded the ideology of Congress throughout his life. His demise is an irreparable loss for the Congress family.’
