Congress Leader Jairam Ramesh Confident About Winning in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir

New Delhi, September 30: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has expressed confidence that the party will form governments in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir following the assembly polls. In an interview, the Rajya Sabha MP highlighted key issues such as justice for soldiers, farmers, and wrestlers, and emphasized the slogan ‘Jai jawan, jai kisaan, jai pehelwan’ to address perceived injustices in the state.

Ramesh stressed the demand for a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP), citing the farmers’ protest, and criticized the Prime Minister for his silence during the protest. He also mentioned the party’s commitment to loan waivers, the removal of the 50% reservation limit, and the importance of conducting a caste census as per the Indian Constitution.

Regarding the assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir, Ramesh expressed optimism about forming a coalition government with the National Conference and emphasized the need for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir. He noted that while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is part of the INDIA alliance, Congress is focused on its electoral partnership with the National Conference.

In response to a recent remark by Union Minister Amit Shah against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Ramesh advised Shah to concentrate on his responsibilities, including the situation in Manipur. He also called for the resignation of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman following a court ruling for an FIR against her in the now-scrapped electoral bonds case.
