Congress Leader G Kumar Nayak Questioned in MUDA Land Case

In Raichur, Karnataka, Congress MP G Kumar Nayak was questioned by the Lokayukta police regarding the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allocation case. Nayak confirmed the interrogation lasted two hours and clarified his role as Mysore District Collector from 2002 to 2005. He explained that the land conversion occurred at the end of 2005 and suggested that the complaint might be based on a misunderstanding of the law.

Nayak emphasized that the land conversion process was error-free, stating, “There is no mistake in the land conversion done.” He also noted that there was no external pressure during the conversion process. Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara commented on the ongoing investigation, urging patience as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) continues its inquiries.

The ED has summoned six MUDA employees for questioning, seeking documents related to the case. This investigation follows a money-laundering case filed against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others, based on a First Information Report (FIR) from the state Lokayukta. The FIR implicates Siddaramaiah, his wife BM Parvathi, and others in the land transaction.

Siddaramaiah has denied the allegations, attributing them to political persecution, and has refused to resign as Chief Minister, despite pressure from the BJP.
