Congress Criticizes Government After Bomb Blast in Manipur Kills Former MLA’s Wife

The Congress party has launched a strong criticism against the BJP-led central government, accusing it of neglecting the North East region. This comes after a bomb blast in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district claimed the life of Charubala, the wife of former MLA Yamthong Haokip.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at the residence of Yamthong Haokip. The Assam Congress posted on their official handle on the microblogging site X, stating, “Bomb blast in the house of Ex-MLA in Manipur. Spouse killed, ex-MLA and daughter luckily escaped unharmed.”

The post further criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “PM Narendra Modi can fly to foreign nations but doesn’t get time to visit one of his states.” It also questioned Home Minister Amit Shah, asking, “How many more need to die before you take up this issue seriously? Why is this stepmotherly behaviour towards NorthEast?”

Former MLA Haokip and their daughter were also at the residence but escaped unhurt. The motive behind the attack is not known, and the police are currently investigating the case. Further details are awaited.
