Congress Challenges Haryana Election Results, BJP Celebrates Victory

Congress Challenges Haryana Election Results

In New Delhi, Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera expressed their disbelief over the Haryana assembly election results, where BJP is set to form its third consecutive government. They described the outcome as “unexpected” and “against ground reality.” The Congress plans to approach the Election Commission with complaints about the counting process and EVM issues in several districts.

Complaints and Concerns

Jairam Ramesh stated that the results represent a “victory for manipulation” and a “defeat for transparent democratic processes.” He emphasized that the party cannot accept the results and will present their concerns to the Election Commission. Pawan Khera echoed these sentiments, stating that the results were surprising and not reflective of the situation on the ground.

Jammu and Kashmir Results

In contrast, the National Conference-Congress alliance is poised for a majority in Jammu and Kashmir, with a coalition government expected. Jairam Ramesh noted that attempts to prevent this majority were unsuccessful.

BJP’s Perspective

BJP leaders, including Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, celebrated their victory, attributing it to the positive impact of PM Modi’s policies. They highlighted the party’s achievements in supporting farmers, youth, and wrestlers in Haryana.

Vote Share and Reactions

Despite Congress improving its vote share, BJP maintained a lead with 39.90% of votes compared to Congress’s 39.10%. BJP leaders claimed the results were due to “pro-incumbency” and the party’s work over the past decade.
