Congress Appoints Senior Coordinators for Jharkhand Elections
The Congress party has appointed BK Hariprasad, Gaurav Gogoi, and Mohan Markam as senior coordinators for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections. This announcement was made by the General Secretary of Organisation, KC Venugopal, in a notice signed by him.
About the Appointed Leaders
BK Hariprasad is a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council and a former Rajya Sabha MP.
Gaurav Gogoi serves as the Deputy Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, representing the Jorhat constituency.
Mohan Markam is a former minister in the Chhattisgarh government and the former President of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee. He represented the Kondagaon assembly constituency.
Upcoming Elections
The Election Commission announced the Jharkhand assembly elections on October 15, alongside the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Currently, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is the largest party in the state with 30 MLAs, followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party with 25 MLAs, and Congress with 16 MLAs. Congress and JMM have formed an alliance for the elections, with seat sharing to be finalized soon.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren criticized the BJP, accusing them of exploiting the state for over 20 years. He stated, “In December 2019, with the blessings of the great people of Jharkhand, I took over the reins of the state. My sole purpose was to irrigate the tree of Jharkhand and strengthen its roots. The BJP had looted this tree with both hands for 20 years. It had dried it up.” Soren also noted that it has been 100 days since he returned from jail and resumed his role as Chief Minister.
