Congress and Shiv Sena Announce Candidates for Maharashtra Assembly Elections

The Congress party is set to hold a meeting at the All India Congress Committee headquarters in New Delhi to finalize candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly Polls. This meeting is scheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m.

On October 24, Congress released its first list of 48 candidates. Key figures include Nana Patole from Sakoli, Praful Vinodrao Gudadhe from Nagpur South West, and Balasaheb Thorat from Sangamner. Other notable candidates are Kunal Rohidas Patil from Dhule rural, Rajesh Panditrao Ekade from Malkapur, Sunil Deshmukh from Amaravati, and Adv. Yashomati Chandrakant Thakur from Teosa. Vijay Wadettiwar, the Leader of Opposition, will contest from Brahmapuri, and former CM Prithviraj Chavan will contest from Karad South. The Deshmukh brothers, Dhiraj and Amit, will contest from Latur Rural and Latur City, respectively.

Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole confirmed that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), has agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement. Each party will contest 85 seats, with the remaining 23 seats to be allocated based on party lists.

Shiv Sena (UBT) has also released its first list of 65 candidates, featuring Aaditya Thackeray, who will contest from the Worli assembly constituency, and Sunil Raut.

The nomination process for the 288 assembly seats has begun, with polling scheduled for November 20 and results to be announced on November 23. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress won 44 seats.
