Congress and BRS Clash Over Musi Riverfront Development Project in Telangana

In Medchal, Telangana, Congress leaders, including MPs and MLAs, held a meeting with farmers at Nagole to discuss the Musi Riverfront Development Project. The project is crucial for the agricultural community, as it affects over one lakh acres of farmland across six to seven Assembly constituencies. Congress MP Kiran Kumar Chamala highlighted the severe pollution in the Musi River, which is contaminated with drainage and industrial waste. He emphasized the need for rejuvenation and the importance of reaching out to farmers to restore the river.

The Telangana government’s proposed project aims to revitalize the 55-kilometer stretch of the polluted Musi River, restoring its ecosystem and promoting economic growth through strategic riverfront development.

Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao criticized the project, warning that it could render one lakh people homeless due to planned demolitions. He accused CM Revanth Reddy of financial motives and questioned the implementation of promised guarantees. KTR vowed to oppose the project, stating that BRS stands with the poor and will resist any attempts to displace people.

KTR also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his stance against ‘bulldozer raj,’ questioning the consistency of his policies across different states.
