In Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have expressed their strong condemnation of the killing of a migrant laborer in the Shopian district. The incident involved Ashok Chauhan, a vendor from Bihar, who was found dead with bullet injuries.

Statements from Leaders

LG Manoj Sinha stated, “I strongly condemn the brutal killing of a vendor Ashok Chauhan in Shopian by cowardly terrorists. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with his family. Our security forces are determined to hunt down the culprits and bring them to justice.” He also mentioned that he has directed the Jammu Kashmir Police and District Administration to provide all necessary support to the victim’s family.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack, saying, “Very sorry to hear about the death of Ashok Chouhan at the hands of militants in South Kashmir. These attacks are abhorrent & must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. I send my condolences to the family & loved ones of the deceased.”

Earlier, on October 9, the body of a missing soldier from the territorial army, Hilal Ahmad Bhath, was found with bullet wounds in the Anantnag district. A joint counter-terrorist operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and other agencies in the Kazwan Forest in Kokernag.
