Coast Guard Rescues 61 People Amid Heavy Rain and Floods in Gujarat
The Coast Guard Air Enclave in Porbandar, Gujarat, has successfully rescued 61 people, including 15 women and 11 children, over the past two days. These rescue operations were conducted in various talukas of Porbandar and Dwarka districts.
Additionally, four fishermen were rescued from the Okha region during these operations. On the first day, the Coast Guard helicopter saved 33 individuals despite challenging windy conditions and low visibility. The following day, another 28 people were rescued, bringing the total to 61.
In a separate incident, the National Disaster Response Force rescued 22 people trapped in floodwaters in Chachlana village of Kalyanpur tehsil. Gujarat has been experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to severe floods and the displacement of hundreds of residents.
The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted extremely heavy rainfall for Saurashtra and Kutch, with warnings issued for Jamnagar, Porbandar, Morbi, Dwarka, and Kutch districts.
