On Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced the Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This initiative is aimed at students in Sanskrit schools, colleges, and universities across the state.

Importance of Sanskrit

During the launch, CM Adityanath expressed gratitude for the scheme’s timing before Diwali, emphasizing its significance for the language and culture of India. He highlighted the importance of understanding Sanskrit by immersing in its essence and connecting with its spiritual energy.

Reviving Sanskrit

CM Adityanath noted that despite being an unknown language, Sanskrit has seen a resurgence since 2017, with more students learning it. He urged institutions to make the scholarship accessible to all students, aiming to increase the number of Sanskrit learners.

Support from Leadership

The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the country’s growing devotion to Sanskrit and Indian culture. He expressed a desire for Sanskrit to become a global means of communication.

Devotion to Culture

Currently, Uttar Pradesh has 1.5 lakh students dedicated to learning Sanskrit. CM Adityanath encouraged the establishment of more schools to promote Sanskrit education.

Earlier in the day, CM Adityanath offered prayers at the Kal Bhairav and Kashi Vishwanath temples in Varanasi.
