CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Meets Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi

On October 25, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh met with India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. They discussed issues affecting people in border areas and the need to improve road infrastructure, especially on strategically important routes. The Defence Minister promised full cooperation to the state government.

Accompanied by Principal Advisor Ram Subhag Singh and senior state officials, CM Sukhu also met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. They discussed various road, bridge, and ropeway projects in Himachal Pradesh, seeking central assistance. The Chief Minister proposed four new road projects and emphasized the importance of a strong road network for tourism and development.

CM Sukhu suggested exploring tunneling options to reduce maintenance costs and requested a review of the Solan-Parwanoo road realignment due to safety concerns. He also urged for the four-laning of remaining sections of the Shimla-Mataur national highway. The Union Minister assured full support to the Himachal government.
