Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 27: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed the Municipal Commissioners and Police Commissioners of Thane and Mira-Bhainder to bulldoze all illegal constructions related to drugs in these cities. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Shinde directed strict action against illegal pubs and bars to make Thane and Mira-Bhainder drug-free.

Recently, it was noticed that some youths were consuming drugs in Pune. Taking serious notice, CM Shinde ordered the Pune Police Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner to use bulldozers to destroy unauthorized constructions related to drugs. Extensive activities were carried out in Pune, and now similar actions are to be taken in Thane and Mira-Bhainder.

Drug abuse is causing significant harm to the youth, and it is crucial to stop this immediately. Earlier, on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed confidence in making India a drug-free nation. He stated that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government is committed to this goal with a whole-of-government approach.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed annually on June 26 to raise awareness about drug-related issues and promote cooperation to eliminate drug abuse. This year’s theme, “The evidence is clear: invest in prevention,” emphasizes the need for drug policies based on science, research, human rights, compassion, and understanding of the social, economic, and health impacts of drug use.
