CM Bhupendra Patel and Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Lead Tree Planting Campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, inspiring the Women and Child Welfare Department to plant 53,065 trees with Anganwadi children across the state. This initiative aims to foster a habit of tree cultivation and environmental conservation among children.

The campaign began on the first day of the holy month of Shravan, with a goal to plant 3.15 lakh saplings in Anganwadis statewide. CM Patel also set ambitious targets of planting 12.20 crore trees by September 2024 and 17 crore trees by March 2025.

Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also participated in the campaign, aiming to plant 3 crore trees from August 1 to August 20 as part of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan. He emphasized the importance of this initiative in protecting the environment.

The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day, June 5. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also joined the campaign, planting a tree in memory of his mother and urging people to participate in environmental protection efforts.
