Clyde Crasto Demands Justice in Worli Hit-and-Run Case Involving Mihir Shah
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 10: Clyde Crasto, the national spokesperson for NCP-SCP, has urged the Maharashtra government to ensure that Mihir Shah, the main accused in the Worli hit-and-run case, is not given leniency due to his father’s political connections. Mihir Shah, son of political leader Rajesh Shah, is accused of killing 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa in the incident.
Crasto highlighted a previous case in Pune where leniency was given due to political connections and stressed that this should not happen again. He demanded strict action against Mihir Shah, stating, “Strict action must be taken against this man because he mercilessly drove over the poor lady and killed her. All laws applicable in such a case should be applied to Mihir Shah.”
The Mumbai police have arrested Mihir Shah and extended the custody of his driver, Rajrishi Singh Bidawat, until July 11 for further investigation. According to officials, Bidawat was with Shah when the accident occurred. The police argued in court that they need to interrogate both together as Shah was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident.
During the hearing, the defense lawyer claimed there was no evidence of the driver’s involvement or drug use. However, the police have formed fourteen teams to investigate the case thoroughly.
Pradeep Nakhwa, the husband of the victim, expressed his frustration, stating that political leaders have ignored their plight due to the accused’s connections. He criticized leaders for their inaction and focus on power.
