Clash Between BRS and Mahila Congress Over KTR’s Remarks in Hyderabad

A clash erupted between BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) and Mahila Congress workers on Saturday in front of the Telangana State Women Commission office in Hyderabad. The incident occurred as BRS working President KTR (KT Rama Rao) arrived at the office, with Congress workers protesting in front of his vehicle.

The Mahila Congress was demanding an apology from KTR for his alleged derogatory remarks about women. The Telangana Women’s Commission had issued a notice to KTR, asking him to appear in person on August 24 regarding his remarks.

As KTR’s vehicle was stopped by the protesting Mahila Congress workers, a scuffle broke out between the BRS members and Mahila Congress workers. Sunitha Rao, the State President of Mahila Congress, stated, “He has insulted all women and now KTR has come to the women’s commission. If he doesn’t say sorry to women then we will not leave him.”

Rao also claimed that KTR’s apology posted on X was not enough, saying, “He said it on X, so by saying it on X, is the matter finished?”

Reacting to the scuffle, KTR said that he had already apologized for his remarks. “Immediately after I stated those words I apologized, and I told the Women’s Commission the same thing. Again, I told the Women’s Commission that I am sorry if anyone’s sentiments were hurt,” said KTR.

He also condemned the alleged attacks by Congress workers on BRS women leaders, claiming that BRS leaders had been attacked with small objects like nail cutters. He urged the state’s Women’s Commission to take suo moto cognizance of the matter. “I strongly condemn the attack on our women workers by Congress workers. They tell me that they have been attacked with small objects like nail cutters. This is not right. Police should take a case against this. Women’s Commission should also take suo moto cognizance in this matter,” said KTR.
