Chiranjeev Rao Confident in Congress Victory in Haryana Elections

In Rewari, Haryana, Congress candidate Chiranjeev Rao expressed confidence in his party’s success in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. Rao, who is married to Anushka, the daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, believes that the people are eager for change after a decade under BJP rule. He stated, “This is a festival of democracy and I feel that people are happy that they are going to be free from BJP after 10 years.”

Rao, along with his family, cast their votes at a local polling station. Meanwhile, Ranjit Singh Chautala, an independent candidate from the Rania Assembly seat, also voted and mentioned that the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), BJP, and Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) are in an alliance, and INLD will support BJP if they win any seats.

Over two crore people are eligible to vote in the Haryana Assembly elections, which will determine if BJP retains power for a third term or if Congress returns after ten years. Voting is taking place across 90 assembly constituencies with 1,031 candidates and 20,632 polling booths. The results will be announced on October 8, alongside those of Jammu and Kashmir.

The elections are crucial, with BJP aiming for a third consecutive term, while Congress seeks to capitalize on anti-incumbency sentiments. Key parties include BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and alliances like INLD-BSP and JJP-ASP. In the 2019 elections, BJP won 40 seats, forming a coalition with JJP, which later dissolved.
