Union Minister and National President of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Chirag Paswan, announced on Monday that the party will soon decide whether to contest the upcoming Jharkhand elections independently or in an alliance. Speaking at Ranchi airport, Paswan mentioned that the party is working to strengthen its organizational capacity and will be organizing various events in Jharkhand.

Paswan said, “Soon enough there will be elections in Jharkhand, and the party has been working to strengthen itself. During the party meet, we will be deciding whether we will contest the elections independently or with a partner. Being the national president, I would say that wherever the party is strong and wherever the party wants to organize events, keeping that in mind we would be organizing a lot of events in Jharkhand.”

He highlighted the upcoming events, stating, “Today there is a party event, we have an event in Palamu, on 29th we will be coming here again, then in Dhanbad there will be an event, on 6th there will be an event in Jamshedpur too. So with these events the party will also decide which direction the party wants to go to.”

Meanwhile, BJP’s election in-charge for Jharkhand, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, announced that the party has begun the process of selecting candidates for the polls. Chauhan expressed confidence in the party’s preparations and criticized the current alliance of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress.

Additionally, the Congress has formed various committees for the elections. According to an official statement, Congress President has approved the formation of the Pradesh Election Committee, Campaign Committee, and Manifesto Committee of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee.

Chauhan said, “We have begun our proceedings to elect candidates, for the first phase, we have taken the advice of our party members. In the first week of October, we will hold an election committee meeting and then we will make decisions.”

Jharkhand is set to witness an election to the 81-member legislative assembly later this year as the current government’s tenure ends in 2024. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the dates.
