Chinese Journalist Zhu Jingjing, Also Known as Meera, Hopes for Better India-China Relations
Beijing, China – Zhu Jingjing, a Chinese journalist who goes by the name Meera, works for the China Media Group in the Hindi service. She hopes for improved relations between India and China. Meera explained that she uses the name Meera because it is easier for her Indian friends to remember. She works in a group that produces programs in about 80 languages, including Hindi.
Meera shared her experiences of visiting India, stating that she used to travel there annually and even studied Hindi at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for a year. She plans to visit India next year to create programs about the cultures of both countries, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and China.
Meera emphasized the mutual interest in each other’s cultures, with many Chinese students learning Hindi and Indian students learning Chinese. She believes that as neighboring countries, India and China can work together to contribute positively to the world.
Despite historical issues, Meera noted that there are no problems between the people of the two nations. She found Indian people to be friendly and helpful during her visits. Meera aims to bridge misunderstandings through her work by educating people in both countries about each other’s realities.
Discussing Bollywood’s influence in China, Meera mentioned the popularity of Indian films like “Dangal,” “Secret Superstar,” and “Bajrangi Bhaijaan.” She also highlighted the widespread love for the song “Ye Aakhein Khuli Ho Ya Ho Band” in China.
Meera also spoke about the Great Wall of China, a major tourist attraction. She described its historical significance and its transformation into a popular site for visitors.
