Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong Urges Pakistan to Act Against Anti-China Terrorist Groups

Chinese Ambassador Calls for Action Against Anti-China Terrorist Groups in Pakistan

In Islamabad, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, has called for a crackdown on anti-China terrorist groups following two attacks on Chinese nationals in Pakistan within six months. These incidents occurred in March and October, just before Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit. Speaking at a seminar titled ‘China at 75’, Ambassador Jiang emphasized the need for enhanced security measures, stating that the attacks were “unacceptable” and had resulted in casualties.

Jiang highlighted that security is a major concern for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and urged Pakistan to strengthen security for Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects. The seminar was organized by the Pakistan China Institute, where Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also spoke. Dar reassured that Pakistan is taking action against the terrorists and will update on progress during the upcoming meeting between President Asif Zardari and President Xi Jinping.

Dar noted that the increasing attacks on Chinese nationals are due to the strong Pak-China friendship, which some global powers find hard to accept. Despite these challenges, Pakistan and China have agreed to advance CPEC by enhancing cooperation in trade, industrialization, the digital economy, agriculture, and renewable energy. Dar also criticized the United States for its efforts to hinder China’s rise as a global economic power.
