China and India Aim for Stronger Ties
Messages from President Murmu and Spokesperson Mao Ning
On the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, Indian President Droupadi Murmu sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping. In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning expressed China’s readiness to enhance communication and trust with India, aiming for stable development in their relationship.
During a press briefing, Mao Ning appreciated the messages from Asian leaders, including President Murmu, and highlighted China’s commitment to improving China-India relations. President Murmu emphasized the importance of peaceful and stable relations between the two countries, expressing a desire to enhance bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit.
Mao Ning also discussed the ongoing disengagement process between India and China, noting successful disengagement in four key areas, including the Galwan Valley. She stated that the border situation is stable and that both countries are working towards resolving differences through diplomatic and military channels.
Progress in Border Disengagement
At the recent 31st meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs, both sides agreed to narrow differences and find early resolutions to border issues. Mao Ning reiterated that the China-India border situation is generally stable and under control.
